EGLL.groundnet.xml

If someone wants to test / play with AI traffic at EGLL (Heathrow) - here is the groundnet that I made today:

https://github.com/legoboyvdlp/London-f ... undnet.xml

With FG 3.7 AI Aircraft appear nicely at their gates, pushback, taxi and takeoff for approx. 30 minutes, then one aircraft refuses
to do the take off roll and causes a traffic jam on the taxiway.

Here, wait, what in the world is happening there? Haven't they ever heard of taxiways?!

Sorry -- couldn't resist. Nice job, although it needs lot's of finetuning.

But I simply absolutely love T5 -- beautiful textures!

(The planes could be aligned a little better, but nice job overall)

They do use the taxiway. But our apt.dat layout is wrong in some areas.

It's really difficult for me to make start-up locations that work with the jetways - not too far, not too close, and are also good for aircraft of various sizes.

I guess there's a "sweet spot" - a constant distance & heading from the jetway's location. But I have not found it yet.

Looks good but I think it could do with a bit of a tidy up and a few more taxiways at the bottom and on the right, pushbacks across a runway are not advised.

The centre point of AI aircraft is across the main gear so the offset for parking would depend on the size of the parking bay, large aircraft stop further from the gate than small aircraft, so you would place the parking position according to it's radius. If in doubt set it a little further away from the gate, a short parked aircraft will look better than one with it's nose in the terminal.

Green circle marks the approximate parking position for aircraft of that size.

@hooray & @gooneybird

thank you both!

I guess that's a TaxiDraw screenshot..
My TaxiDraw never shows the RW and TW :-(

as you noticed:
Today I only made AI routes for Terminal 5A,B,C and did not care about the rest of the airport.

the layout doesn't match the real EGLL's chart on Nats

I use a couple of apt.dat's an up to date and an older one, the older one has the the runways and taxiways.

The runways don't usually change but If they do I reposition them using the data in WED if that checks out. The taxiways and parking can be inserted using data from WED or other sources but the runways are necessary to verify the ground network when finished.

Hey
I have question for you:
Why motion AI Traffic still blocked on EGLL
Sometimes you start one, two planes and the rest is in traffic ????

Not sure you will get an answer to that, I don't believe anyone has any full understanding of the AI traffic code.

You can get my own version of EGLL groundnet HERE but this is WIP and I do not provide any support :-)

Cheers
