Installation Problem

Postby Freighttrainx » Sat Nov 21, 2020 2:48 am

Hey Guys
Today I decided to reinstall Flightgear onto my PC after a long time, but I came across an error while installing it.
It just went to after the file directory screen then it didn't go forward as it came forward with an error. I'm on Window 10 and I'm trying to install the latest version of Flightgear.
The error said the following: Setup was unable to create the directory: "C\Users\Test Subject\Documents\FlightGear".
Error 2: The system cannot find the specified

Does anyone know how to resolve this error?

Tried the installation twice, did not get anywhere.

above you show us the path as being for a user named "Test Subject" which has a space in it... maybe "TestSubject" without a space would work? that's what they're saying...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.

Try to check in Microsoft Defender.

It could be that Windows doesn't let the folders be created.

yes, this... it was also recently discussed on the devs' mailing list that this kinda stuff was happening... also talk about folks that link their documents directory to onedrive... we really do not want to be downloading and then immediately uploading the huge amounts of data that FG uses, do we? no wonder people are complaining about their bandwidth when ""schtuff"" like this is done...

It had been a few months since the "download scenery automatically" didn't work and I didn't understand why.
Then i found out it was because of Microsoft Defender.

This was also a subject on the dev-list for some days.
Windows (better to say the Defender) dont let you write in 'Documents' directory if you dont have a Microsoft Office installed.
Wired, but thats Micrsosoft.

Yikes. I kind of hope that is not true.

I've just disabled my controlled folder access. Thanks for your replies everyone. I got it working now.

Happy flying!
