Aircraft updates fail: Local file-system error

Postby Gabor » Sat Nov 16, 2019 8:39 pm

Dear All!

Please help me with the following:

I'm running the latest version of FlightGear, and everything was great so far. Even was able to play yesterday. Today the startup screen warns me to update some o my airplanes:

Seattle-project 777-300,
Cirrus,
Cessna 182

The update downloads, the progressbar ends then Iám receiving the following error:

Aircraft Installation failed, ..... aircraft name....: A local file-system error occurred.

So far I have tried to download and exract each package from the ftp mirror into the Aircraft folder, but the startup screen still says I need to update.
While this message appears the "Fly" function does not work.

Please help how to update the plane's version numbers so that the system accepted the latest versions.
Thanks

Gabor

You do not need to update, the screen just says you can. Installing a zip package into the aircraft folder should work just fine.

I have had this error too,, this is how I solve it cleanly:

Close FG. Go into your flightgear folder and delete the folder called something like: org.flightgear.fgaddon
Then go into $FGHome and delete the aircraft files in aircraft-data folder.

The fghome folder is different for different OS find it here: http://wiki.flightgear.org/$FG_HOME

After that, start FG and install the catalog and aircraft again

Thanks, your process helped, Now the sim starts fine and shows that the planes are up-to-date.
