FlightGear tutorial

Postby tonnyx » Sat Apr 15, 2017 10:58 pm

MacBook Pro (2010) running OS X.9.5
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB

Running FlightGear 2017.1.2

When I try to run the Preflight tutorial, once I unpause the simulation, the plane starts rocking and spinning violently and ends up flipping upside-down. What is going on?

It could be very strong wind? Do check the weather dialog, at least.

what craft? where is this "preflight tutorial"??
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I assume it's the c172p.
It could be wind, or it could be spawning instde the new tower ;) (I had lots of fun driving the Cessna into walls and seeing it fly )
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

If you go to Help -> Tutorials, Preflight is the first one in the list. It starts you out in a C172P at Sabadell Airport. The plane appears to be on level ground, but the attitude indicator says your plane is tilted at something like 30 deg.
Here's a screenshot.
And, as I said, as soon as you unpause it, the plane starts erratically spinning and ends up upside-down.
So bizarre.

before you unpause it, use the 'v' to step outside and look around at your craft... it is actually on the ground? hit 'v' to step forward through the views... 'V' to go backward through them... they are in a loop so you will find yourself back in the cockpit...
