Why do older versions FlightGear not run on Yosemite?
The simulator itself worked fine, but the default launcher failes because it is written in ruby/cocoa and Apple took away the ruby/cocoa library in OSX 10.10.
What can I do to run FlightGear on Yosemite?
In order to run FlightGear on Yosemite, you can do either of these:
- Download and install FlightGear 3.4.
- Run from the command line; see this wiki article.
- Use an alternative launcher from this list.
With the 3.4 release this February, FlightGear is now shipped with a built-in launcher on Mac. The original launcher has been dropped. Future versions of FlightGear will have a built-in launcher on all platforms, phasing out any external launchers that you can currently get.
