Rembrandt with Mac Launcher

Postby JM-26 » Mon Feb 04, 2013 1:26 pm

Hi everybody,

Since a lot of months, I have no idea how to use rembrandt with the Mac launcher ( not FGX ).
Which command line I have to write ? --enable-rembrandt is not working.

I have an error message known :

Code: Select all
FRAGMENT glCompileShader "/Applications/FlightGear.app/Contents/Resources/../Resources/data/Shaders/ssao.frag" FAILED
FRAGMENT Shader "/Applications/FlightGear.app/Contents/Resources/../Resources/data/Shaders/ssao.frag" infolog:
ERROR: 0:20: 'array of 2-component vector of float' : constructor not supported for type
ERROR: 0:20: 'array of 2-component vector of float' : no matching overloaded function found
ERROR: 0:20: 'const 2-component vector of float' : cannot declare arrays of this type
ERROR: 0:20: 'v' : redefinition
ERROR: 0:55: 'reflect' : no matching overloaded function found
ERROR: 0:55: '=' :  cannot convert from 'float' to '2-component vector of float'

glLinkProgram "" FAILED
Program "" infolog:
ERROR: One or more attached shaders not successfully compiled

The wiki says that I must add this command line :

Code: Select all
--prop:/sim/rendering/rembrandt/ambient-occlusion-buffers=false

But this command line works for FGRUN. How to use it with the launcher ?

Thank you in advance for your help.

You see that window that has "--enable-rembrandt" in it? You simply add your --prop to there – that is where any extra arguments that aren't selected by the launcher can be entered in and then passed to FG.

Yes, but with this prop ( --prop:/sim/rendering/rembrandt/ambient-occlusion-buffers=false ), FG bug with this message :

Code: Select all
(0) : fatal error C9999: Nested functions, aborting!
Cg compiler terminated due to fatal error

You use 2.6, you don't have rembrandt ? I need somebody who use rembrandt with 2.8 and the launcher.

Thank you for your reply.

Your problem isn't the launcher, it's the fact the Rembrandt shaders aren't compiling on Mac.

we should probably try to find a simple way to catch GLSL compiler errors and log them to the property tree for inspection purposes, so that we can directly show a dialog whenever a shader didn't even compile in the first place, that would probably improve usability further...

I have 2.8 and Rembrandt works fine? I just check the box (or is it command line option), start up flightgear normally, and suddenly I see pixely shadows appear.

P.S. My profile is outdated

Could you please post a picture of your launcher with the command line.

I have no idea what you are doing wrong, mine looks exactly the same. I have Mac OSX version 10.7.5 on an iMac (AMD Radeon HD Graphics with 512MB), if that helps.

Hi Philosopher
I have the same problem and the files runing wrong are ssao.frag, blur.frag, sunlight.frag :

if I run OpenGL Shader Builder and try to compile ssao.frag I get the same message. (See my post http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=19070)

You write you don't have this problem : can you send me your files ssao.frag, blur.frag and sunlight.frag" ?

If I compile the other files with OpenGLSB, no error.

I have an iMac too, FG 2.10, OsX 10.6.8.

Wiki on Rembrandt (which is mentioned in this thread) clearly mentions the error and says that you have to disable ambient occlusion if you get it. The first post in this thread repeats this bit of information. What precisely is the problem with following this instruction first to see where it gets you?

The problem is how following this instruction with the Mac launcher ?
If I add the line "--prop:/sim/rendering/rembrandt/ambient-occlusion-buffers=false" in the command line of the launcher, FG bug with this log :
