Troubling building FlightGear-2020.3.4.0

Postby RussL » Wed Dec 23, 2020 4:39 pm

Ubuntu 20.04
I installed ATC-pie and FlightGear 3.1.0 crashed. The ppa only has 3.1.0, so I'm trying to build a later version.
From " https://sourceforge.net/projects/flight ... se-2020.3/ " I downloaded:
FlightGear-data-3.4.0.tar.bz2
flightgear-3.4.0.tar.bz2
simgear-2020.3.4.tar.bz2

SimGear built and installed. Now when I try to build flightgear I get:
CMake Error at CMakeModules/FindSimGear.cmake:112 (message):
You have installed a mismatching SimGear version 2020.3.4 instead of 3.4.0
as required by FlightGear. When using multiple SimGear installations,
please use 'SIMGEAR_DIR' to select the SimGear library location to be used.

How do I fix the error? I have had a terrible time getting compatible versions of all three packages.

Thanks.

the year portion of the version numbers is important... FG 3.4.0 is like 5+ years old... 2020.3.4 is only a month or three old... do not confuse 2020.3.4 with 3.4.0, they are not the same at all...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

If you compile FG 2020.3.4 for Ubuntu, you'll need to apply a fix to get the colors back to normal.
I recommend using the download_and_compile.sh script with this change.

Edit: The Ubuntu repository version (2020.3.1) has the same bug.
