Hi everyone,

Just downloaded the FlightGear-2020.3.2-x86_64.AppImage and the base data files and yes it runs, but there's no additional aircraft aside from the 172, what gives?

If you have a look in the Add-ons tab in the launcher at the top under 'Aircraft Hangars' it says to enable the Official Flightgear Hangar (it literally says - to add it click here) - do this & you'll be able to download & install other aircraft from within the launcher

Hey enrogue,

I don't have a launcher, it starts me straight at the default airport in a 172, however I can go to the menu and choose the Aircraft Centre (experimental), but i see no tabs, maybe i'm looking in the wrong place

start from the command line with --launcher

if you have appimage integration installed (https://github.com/TheAssassin/AppImageLauncher) it picks up the --launcher in future launches

Hmm I've tested the AppImages in 18.04 in the past but not recently as I upgraded to 20.04 - I'll do a quick check in a VM

OK, it seems to work fine - I got a segfault when adding the main Hangar, but when I restarted it was added ok & I was able to download, install & fly a couple of aircraft

odd

I'm see you have the Nvidia drivers installed - can I ask which version? I have the 450 drivers installed from a ppa on 20.04 (18.04 is supported - see here https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers ... ubuntu/ppa )

I can do an external drive install of 18.04 & test with the Nvidia drivers, it'll just take time

OK, a clean 18.04 install with Nvidia drivers from the main installer (not nouveau), downloaded the appimage & data

Ran fine with --launcher, clicked through to the addons, added the main hangar & it segfaults

Restarted straight away & the Hangar is added & I can install & fly an aircraft

I'll report the segfault but if there's any other issue I can't reproduce it without more info

Hi again enrogue, I just tried again using the --launcher parameter and this time it was fine, so I initially had exactly the same experience as you did, where fgfs crashed, second try doing the same, all was well and the default hangar was there.

I'm currently running Nvidia 440.100 driver, btw.

Much obliged for you help and assistance enrogue :)

Awesome - good to know

I've posted on the dev list about the crash, and another issue I found with the Launcher

have fun flying!
