Flightgear 2017.4.0 wont run errors instead

Postby jtprophet » Sat Jan 20, 2018 12:50 am

Happy Friday (weekend)!

I sure hope someone can make my weekend. I have been trying to run the 2017 version of flightgear for quite some time now, meanwhile I have been using 2016.4.0 which works although I really want to enjoy upgrade to 2017. So just a few minutes ago I updated the package 2017.4.0 using "sudo apt-get update" and then of course "upgrade" afterwards and it appeared to go well.

So I am assuming the path to fgfs is located here /usr/games/fgfs, so using the console I attempt to launch the program but receive the error message below, by the way I am using Ubuntu 17.04 or 5 .

john@LINUXHOME:/usr/games$ ./fgfs --launcher
./fgfs: symbol lookup error: ./fgfs: undefined symbol: _ZN5nasal14ContextWrapperC2EP7Context

Thank-you and enjoy your evenings!

i've pinged saiarcot895 since they are the ones maintaining the PPA build you appear to be using...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Ubuntu 17.04 isn't supported anymore, so I can't publish any updates for that version. You'll need to upgrade to 17.10.

ewwwww... this is why we stay on the LTS releases until they are EoL... i highly recommend switching to the latest LTS release and staying there until the next LTS release... that would be ubuntu 16.04 and the next LTS will be 18.04... we're currently on 14.04 which goes EoL in 2019 but we're probably going to be going to 18.04 next... that might be too bleeding edge, though so 16.04 is still a serious consideration...
