FG 2019.2.0 nightly build

Postby V12 » Mon Sep 02, 2019 12:12 pm

Latest FG2019.2.0 nightly build installed from PPA https://launchpad.net/~saiarcot895/+arc ... tgear-edge on Ubuntu 19.04 has strange bug - when I quit launcher or simulation, it quit, but in task manager I can see zombie process with memory consumption in state before quit.
Another bug is in OSG, some geometry is displayed bad, I tested Concorde and IDG A32x. In 2018.3.1. are both planes OK.

Concorde in latest nightly build FG2019.2.0 :
Image
Check Speed indicator, Altimeter and gear lever, there is bad color on INS, all digits should be yellow, not almost white. There are bad normals on gear lever.

This is same Concorde in 2018.3.2 :
Image
Speed indicator and altimeter are OK, INS digits almost white. Gear level is OK.

And final image of the same Concorde, but FG2018.3.1 :
Image
Check INS digits - all are yellow.

your white characters problem looks to be the known OSGText coloration problem seen with newer versions of OSG... OSG changed the way that it does the colors and the old OpenGL style is no longer used by OSG... FG simply hasn't kept up with all the changes in OSG... this problem has been around since i came to the project 4 or so years back... none of the devs have had the time to refactor the way FG handles OSGText so here we are... someone will get to it one day... for now the main project uses an older version of OSG with the breaking commit reverted... the PPA does not and neither do most of us building our own binaries...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

White characters is not problem, only glitch. Problem is normals handling. Probably newest OSG doesn't render polygons with normal vectors oriented outward of the observer. I must check the KIAS, ALT and gear lever geometry on my Concorde.
But zombie process is serious bug.
