Learning the F-16 again - long ago, I've spent a lot of time with Falcon 4 learning how this bird works, now I'm reminded of those good old days.

Thoroughly enjoying the F-16

Re-activating my aerial refueling skills:

And with the tanks topped up, let's head to Grand Canyon

Image

Entry to Grand Canyon - I had planned to fly all the way to KGCN airport, but...

Image

... the weather decided to treat me with T-storms halfway - with turbulence and the reduced visibility, this was pretty much not flyable (or at least freakin' dangerous), so I decided to abort and flew the rest above the Canyon rim.

Nice, quite frightening the last one deep inside the canyon.
You should try the last falcon bms update if you like the f 16.

Moments before take-off for some weapon testing at Aviano AB:

Plus, a throwback (reminded by Thorsten) of one of those crazy low-level sorties I do to keep myself trained in the Alps, this one was... I'll let the picture tell it for me:

Trying to escort an incoming Space Shuttle to the runway with the F-16:

The whole exercise is quite tricky, because if you want to intercept early, you have to rise to 35.000 ft quickly and then let yourself 'just' be overtaken by the descending Shuttle (which at TAEM interface is moving with Mach 3 so there's no chance to get there) Initially you have to hit the AB massively, but then quickly you need full brakes - because the F-16 isn't really meant to descent at 7000 ft/min and picks up speed quite a bit.

Nice formation flight - just before HAC

... and inside HAC

Good radar lock - and we're turning into final:

(I've first recorded the trajectory data from the Shuttle, then spent an afternoon convincing the AI system to actually use that data and then loaded the AI system with the F-16 selected as simulated aircraft).

Very nice!!!

The 4/3 format also puts a bit of arty nostalgia in the pictures, they could be SOTM-winning!

From RCTP to FSWeekend at Lelystad (EHLE) :

Still climbing, FL550 near Kathmandu :

Dubai (OMDB), refuel stop :

I landed at EHAM, Lelystad has too short runway for my landing weight.
Flight log https://fgtracker.ml/modules/fgtracker/ ... ID=7192738, 6430 nm in 6:46 hours (effective flight time), max ground speed 1232 kts, max altitude 60900 feet.

No more screenshots, because bad rorated clouds was too visible and too ugly :(

Today, only the boosters flew. I was trying to use 2019.2.0 development branch, the sunset was nice though! :D

Sometimes one of my planes needs a little FDM adjustment and new nasal features. And it's always a good time to practice take offs, landings, plus get some pretty late fall images.
