From Quito to Cochabamba

Old Quito depart :

Somewhere over central Bolivia :

Approach without any charts (Yes, my big mistake) was attempt for selfsuicide, but I landed safely. Cochabamba is at the bottom of the largedepression surrounded high mountains.

Premiereing at 9:00Z, a quick attempt at some tricks!

There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

Yesterday, I tested Descent ECHO VOR DME 2 circling approach to runway 14 Cochabamba from NE direction. First portion is 20 nm DME arc to PALOT fix, then 10 miles direct to VOR CBA, after that again 8 miles DME arc to CBA radial 138 and then land with FGFS Concorde, 737-800YV, then same approach but in FSX PMDG 737-800 NGX. Ofcourse, it was most difficult with Concorde for minimum safe speed 250 kts and bad view from archaic displayless cockpit, less difficult was 737-800YV. But with PMDG 737 with terrain, DME circles and VOR radials displayed on ND and VNAV full assist - piece of cake.

FGFS developers, we have Garmin 1000 avionic, please make full implementation of MCDU and ND, it is very good instrument combination.

Well, it is coming on both Airbus and Boeing... have patience!

For a start the ND should already have VOR needles?

Today I completed my first gate to gate flight in approximately 5 years, maybe a touch longer. I honestly couldn't say. I'm very excited to be returning to FlightGear - and I was quite pleased with myself for how much I remembered from back in the day. Gonna have to relearn a whole lot of stuff though.

I flew from Stockholm Arlanda (ESSA) to Riga (EVRA) as Norwegian 4547 on the Boeing 737-800 in the UNICEF paint. Unfortunately I had some Terrasync issues which eventually forced me to quit FlightGear and relaunch, so I've no screenshots from Stockholm. Here I am on approach, though.

Crossing the coast of the Gulf of Riga.
Image

Runway in sight, we're landing - gear down.
Image

Not too busy in Riga - no traffic holding short.
Image

This was my first time flying the 737-800 - I was VERY happy with my touchdown!
Image

Brakes and thrust reversers deployed - we are down!
Image

Ignoring the Terrasync issue - which I knew about and subsequently fixed from this forum topic - I had a great flight. Looking forward to more hops in the 738!

lego :
Yes, I used VOR needle and DME distance.

figaro :
Before next flight from Stockholm check https://github.com/BAWV12/ESSA
It is Arlana airport builded with shared FG models by my son. Not perfectly precise, but much better than empty place.

I had them installed - was the main reason I flew from Stockholm Arlanda. One reason I'm annoyed I didn't get screenshots in Stockholm was because of the models! The buildings definitely made it feel more busy and real than my arrival in Riga. I thought there was buildings in Riga - but I must have been mistaken. Thanks for your work populating airports! :)

Riga is still empty. I can check it and add some buildings, if it will be possible.
