Todays flight from Elfin Bay AK, USA (PAEL) to Anchorage AK, USA. (PANC)... Welcome aboard the HU-16A Albatross moored offshore at Elfin Bay...

Please correct typo in ship name. This is CG - 57 USS Lake Champlain, not Chamberlain.

I've finally found it, under Textures/Sky/moon.png :mrgreen:

The new one is from https://www.solarsystemscope.com/textures/, CC license. It's about 20MB, so I don't think there is too much interest there, up to taking shots with monster focal length :)

Is the moon a 3D-model or is it just a 2D plane?

I mean, now that we established, that the earth is flat, the moon probably is flat as well... :mrgreen:

I am not competent enough to answer, but that looks like it is 2D, like a sprite in Duke Nukem ;)
