Postby legoboyvdlp » Tue Sep 26, 2017 11:58 am

Hello Pilots! :D

Now's your chance to submit your candidate for October's FlightGear SOTM contest!

Participation Rules
15 entries (because a poll can only have 15 options)
Only one entry per person to give everyone a fair chance of submitting a screenshot.
You may enter one extra for somebody else. This person of course can submit their own candidate.
If you submit a screenshot of another person, please make sure he/she grants you the right to publish it under the correct license!
Please convert your picture from png to jpg (plenty of converters online).
Has to be taken with FlightGear.
Every picture should have a caption.
Please add the name of the aircraft and the location where the screenshot was taken to your entry (not necessarily to be mentioned in the caption).
Screenshots must not be post-processed except from cropping and/or resizing (but you may use the in-sim ALS filters).
You may change your entry as often as you want, until the voting starts.
You agree to license your screenshot under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license for publication by the FlightGear project.

Voting will start when 15 entries are reached or at the latest on October 20th, in a seperate topic.

Cheers ;)

Why does it have to be jpg? This looked much better in png.

jpgs are smaller and faster to download... if your conversion from png to jpg shows the image worse, adjust the conversion parameters... i use gimp and my conversions seem to be just fine...

wkitty, I used gimp and set quality to 100%. Did not know what the rest of the options meant, so leaved them alone.
Do you mind showing me your settings when you export?

Normally adjusting the quality to get an image of 100-200kb is my rule of thumb. To do this tick the preview button; and then zoom the image to around 500% and lower the quality until the compression artefacts are too much.

and here's the same thing converted to jpg...

i could maybe make them smaller by reducing the quality more but i've not had any complaints (so far)...
