Volcanoes

Some previews on introducing volcanoes to FG - here's first visuals of an eruption of Mt. Stromboli:

I'm slowly working my way up - Hawaiian eruptions are fairly easy to do, now I've learned to do the correct plume timing for the somewhat more explosive Stromboli-type eruptions. Looking at some footage of the Pinatubo eruption, a super-Plinian might be tough to get into FG... we'll see.

I suspect I'll try for Etna next, that should be the first to need an interface to the weather system to get substantial ash falls under control.

In case anyone is interested - I could use a 3d modeler on the team who has a good idea how to do lava streams (which, after all, need to be 'on' the terrain).

The particle system has its quirks and problems, but I will admit it's better than I would have given it credit before... I didn't think that'd be possible:

Here's Etna going off in a Plinian eruption, spewing ash 120.000 ft high into the stratosphere (and taking out most of Sicily in the process most likey...)

About two months ago - though currently only Stromboli and Kilauea are implemented.

it is already there in the latest code... so if you run daily builds, you should have it... otherwise, you'll have to wait until 2018.1 is released in january...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I actually hope to get Etna in before the release... that has very impressive ash plumes.
