Setting something up which would run separately from FlightGear would require a separate computer to run it on.

Someone was making Motorcycles and tracks for them to run on which were made as custom scenery IIRC. That way the FG system could still run it. Maybe that would be the way to go. Find out who did the circuits and ask how it's done then make a small town with roads as custom scenery which we could all make use of.

EDIT: p.s. I think this subject should be a separate thread.

"Wish we have more great roads in Flightgear": We've it, try OSM roads on some recent custom scenery packages, not in TS yet but we have lights, traffic, smooth roads (no more coasters), multilevel roads and motorways... No need to separate something that works well on FG.

I suspect for driving on the OSM roads, the traffic shader isn't the greatest experience...

because of plain objects and predefined velocity, but i think is highly modificable

@FlighterAce
Why not fork FlightGear and modify it? It is GPL after all! :)

That sounds like a good approach. However, I do not know much coding. Maybe there is someone else who would like to do this.

I would do it, but I'm so deep in the A320 at the moment that every time of programming I get, goes to the A320. :)

I know almost NOTHING about coding but I did start practicing and (very very poorly, I mean absolutely terrible) designing stuff in SketchUp this weekend because KGRR and KBIV and all the tiny airfields in West Michigan look so damn empty it's sad. Not sure I'm the huge help you need, but I'd be down for doing any little thing I could (and totally count me in for testing)
