I guessed as much - they are just 3D models moved around without any intelligence. In the air, I've encountered AI planes rarely, and what happened yesterday was my first near miss, but on the ground I've noticed this much earlier: They don't seem to care for anything, they taxi through each other, they park at the same location, they ignore the player, sometimes they even take off and land "connected" to each other. That's kind of sad considering how much work must have gone into the ground networks and timetables.

the AI stuff is still being worked on... albeit slowly... remember that the developers are doing this in their free time... some folks are dealing with their finals in school, IIUC, so they just don't have as much time as may be desired... rest assured that it will get better before the end ;)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Of course, I know that! It is natural for a "free" project like FG that people work on what they want, and that they don't have the time they would like to have. That's why Wikipedia is virtually complete, but only concerning 3rd league football clubs and music albums. ;)

I remember the first time I flew at KSFO, I was taxing and an airliner taxied right through me....I said "Hey watch where your going!" on MP chat. There were I think two other people there and they both asked who I was talking to, neither had been moving. Once I realized what happened I felt stupid. ;) We all were noobs at some point in time. This is also something ATC's and everyone else should remember since I mentioned noobs. I just say that because I've seen some people be very rude to new members as if they should magically know everything in Flightgear and it kills the growth of the flightgear community.

it's all so relative! I just remember someone complaining about EDDF ATC being so rigorous, while KSFO_TWR was so leniant...

I'm not going to point at who ATC's. The point is at one time we all knew nothing, so remember that.

Nah I've seen those before once or twice in Hawaii. They look really cool actually. I was at like FL550 when I saw them down below, so I got a nice birds eye view.
