Speedbird 001 vs SBSP 35L :

If you can land a Concorde at SBSP, i will start doubting about the accuracy of the simulator.

Anyway, i decided to try 35L with a big bird too
Little known fact, widebodies like 767 and a330 would operate regularly at CGH in the 90's

On cruise

And starting descent, still some 85NM away with good weather
Image

I got some fog and bad weather on final(2500 visibility) and got so anxious i forgot to take pictures... Sorry

Already on ground, had to use almost the whole runway to stop the aircraft

another one on ground

I noticed 2 things on my flight
767 engines seem to be too overpowered, it can accelerate and climb like a fighter jet almost.
SBSP ILS seems to be wrong both on 17 and 35, as it leaves you on a very high position that makes everything harder( SBRJ for instance has a much shorter runway but it seems easier to land as you approach in the right angle)

This may be too obvious, but did you add passenger and baggage weight for this test? I've understood from previous discussions that empty airliners have quite an impressive thrust/weight ratio...

E.g., 767-200: 176,650 lb OEW, 2 x 52,500 lbf max thrust. Almost 0.6, more than a fully loaded F-35A (0.57).

SBRJ being so short and wide (comparatively) makes this runway quite challenging to land on visualy.

the payload was 75% full, and it had about 25% of fuel capacity. So it doesn't seem that empity to me

With approach speed 200 KIAS, touchdown speed 160 KIAS and pitch angle 11 DEGs, weight under max landing weight and special braking procedure, 0 pax, using reversers to 0 kts is possible to land on 1700 meters long runway. But this landing can't be described as safe landing. There is not any reserve for mistake or any mechanical failure or wet runway or any tail wind. With very special procedure and reversers deployed some seconds before touchdown 1500 meters is enough. I landed Concorde at Paro, that was really difficult and extreme dangerous.

Many airliners in FG have too powerfull brakes - check viewtopic.php?p=326250#p326250
Some of them has been adjusted and now is accurate.

EDIT 1:
Minimum Concorde landing distance is 1800 meters, source wiki - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concorde# ... cteristics
In test flights with no pax and almost zero fuel, landing distance was slightly short.

The Beginner's guide to FlightGear #3 is out, talking through the FlightGear launcher!
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.
