Quartz Creek, near Cooper Landing, AK. I just discovered how to enable fancy grass, so I reshot it:

Around 9 fps, because I maxed the vegetation slider to 10 to make a screenie with dense, lush grass, and of course it also umptupled the number of trees in the background forests. At my usual 5.0 setting, I was seeing 30 fps, but the lawn was a bit spotty. All ALS sliders were maxed, too. Slight levels adjustments in my favorite image editor, as FG is a bit murky on my screen.

I guess now we'll need a lawn mower "aircraft"... Anders? Detlef? :)

Yes, we need a slider multiplier independent from the vegetation one.

Overflying Rio de Janeiro using the UFO. This is the result of statto's Rio scenery and my new regional textures.

I experimented today with various grass values in global-summer.xml, to get better grass without multiplying the trees. I could do that, but it still hurts the frame rate. Off the ground, the airport looks a little silly with lush grass extending in squares up to 200 m in every direction, but no farther. I could raise the 200 m limit, but at the cost of single-digit fps again. So I disabled the grass effect, to be reserved for runway screen shots only.

Sure looks cool, though. I keep expecting to glimpse small rodents scurrying through the blades, being chased by snakes.

The hurricane on some HRH destroyers ditched, and the pilot swam to the ship. Is that not correct?

That's right, but it prevented any further use for the Aircraft. :-)

The Normandy pics are excellent - are they raw screenshots or postprocessed in any way?

Thorsten, I cheated just a bit. What I added was a slight vignette as well as some spherical centered highlight gradient. But that's all. The raw screenshots are just as beautiful, I just felt they would need this little extra touch ;)

I love the distance blue shift, that got introduced in 3.4. Flying over south England at the event, I had this moment where I needed to tell the group how real this looks. From what I see in real life flying and what Flightgear presents, is quite close a lot of times. I only use the ALS rendering pipeline.

Flying at my local airport EDCG at core high pressure WX setup in complex weather looks quit realistic as well. Well done and a huge Thank You to everyone who participated in coding this.
