Today I had a quick flight in the Sierra Nevada. I took off from Edwards, and turned left towards China Lake:

Then, as I kept flying north-north-west, the sun began to rise

Image

I kept flying, more or less along the ridge line of the Sierras, in this screenshot just to the west of the South Haiwee Reservoir.

As I continued on, the fog began to thicken

I took another flight today in the Mig-21

I took off in the early morning and was soon flying over the Orinoco river in Venezuela

After some time, the sun began to rise further, and the terrain got more interesting, with the Auyán Tepui coming over the horizon

I flew right over the top, before dog-legging left and then right to follow the main south-bound highway.

I soon crossed the border into Brazil, before landing in a small airfield outside Boa Vista

Another flight - this time from Boa Vista down to Manaus

When I took off, it was still dawn

Image

But the dawn soon broke, and soon I was following a tributary of the Amazon towards Manaus

Image

After about an hour's flight, I started descending in for a high speed approach

Image

And successfully landed at Manaus airport

Wow, it's cool that you were able to use a 3d model from google earth. I wonder if you can do that for an entire city in FG, say Manhattan. Obviously you can't distribute it, but I would expect there to be a significant performance impact.

Im testing the theory. So far, no significant performance hit.
i know it cant be distributed but this is a personal thing + a bit of an experiment.

I found a video on Youtube about it. It IS a huge pain in the arse to get it to work though.
This is the video if you want to try it:-

https://youtu.be/IkqrIx3PQ0A

II could only get it to work using the software versions he used in the video. Could not get it to work at all with any other version.
