Dom created an FG forum over at flightsim.com

https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/forumdis ... -Simulator

I'd like to showcase some FG screenshots there, and hence would like to request a blanket permission (to be included as part of the participation rules) to post the winning shot (and possibly others) over there.

Is the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license not sufficient? This license is also GPLv3 and GPLv3+ compatible.

You can post any screenshot of mine if you like.

Upon reflection, yeah, it probably is. Still, if anyone has second thoughts about the idea, let me know.

I can't speak for current contestants, but you may post any screenshot that I ever posted there and I'll definitely add it to the participation rules next month if no-one objects ;)

I have seen what some pilots can do in that in FlightGear. It is surprisingly agile for a bomber. :)
Low-level flying — It's all fun and games till someone looses an engine. (Paraphrased from a YouTube video)
Improving the Dassault Mirage F1 (Wiki, Forum, GitLab. Work in slow progress)

Similarly feel free to use any screenshots I uploaded (or possibly upload in future) for showing the Flightgear project. No specific attribution needed (and preferred that way, ty).

Have not taken much in the way of screenshots (unless for bug reporting, or I randomly took one). Here are a few screens I still have from the screenshot folder - showing newer terrain & OSM features (imgur). Converted to JPG (Not sure if there's a way to save in JPG without large PNG). Not really intended to showcase FG officially - didn't really tweak variables like clouds/weather/sun position/season/livery to fit invariables (the terrain&view). However, it /is/ at high-ish settings (& AA/transparency AA). May have forgotten to tweak settings & lod ranges. It's mostly FG rather than screens - stunning in these regions no matter which spot - at high-ish settings & some use of environment menu from what I know so far.

Kind regards

While I'm here I should post this. (Realise submissions are over, just wanted to share the region..)

Autumn colours and mountain meadows in sunlight and cloud shadow in the Carpathian Mountain arc(lat=44.9558, lon=21.8878):

One of the places on Earth especially known for stunning autumn colours in RL too (e.g. from google: album). In the sim it is the autumn effect & procedural forests doing the heavy lifting I think.

Image

Really like this screen from a different part of the Carpathians(screen/EC130). But didn't have prominent cloud shadows. OSM2City available for some countries in the Carpathians (Romania/Poland/Slovakia IIRC). Mountain meadows above treelines and forests below look stunning generally: cloud shadows/ALS/trees turned up. More screens. I assume a temperature inversion & tule fog (google example img]) may look spectacular in these regions too.

Shadow option is hidden away a bit(?). Perhaps a reminder note under view->rendering that AW options effect visuals&rendering may help.

Kind regards
