USS Theodore Roosevelt - Joint Exercise Northern Edge 2019

Formerly "Custom Carrier Starting Locations?"

With the release of FG2020.3.2, an option was added in the "Locations" menu in the launcher to start from an aircraft carrier (or LPD, in the case of USS San Antonio). I know that it is possible to create custom carrier locations (as detailed on the wiki's Howto:Carriers page), but I was wondering if it is possible to start onboard a custom carrier via the launcher (e.g creating a new location option to add to the carrier list).

For example, say I want to start on the USS Harry S. Truman, but I want it to be located in Long Island Sound rather than off of Honolulu. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, how to do it? Thanks!

(Apologies to moderators if this is in the wrong forum, wasn't sure whether to put this in "Development" or "Support")

I'm off at college so I've stopped making liveries (for the time being, at least), but I'm continuing to ensure compatibility for the ones I've already published.

Hi Husky,

If you create or modify an AI scenario with a different carrier location, then the launcher should pick it up automatically next time you start it.

if it's a particularly interesting one, we could add it to the FlightGear release so it would be available to everyone.

So an update on this: I'm planning to place a carrier group in the waters off of southern Alaska. Currently going with the USS Theodore Roosevelt because this carrier was actually in Alaska for Joint Exercise Northern Edge 2019 (https://news.usni.org/2019/05/14/theodore-roosevelt-strike-group-in-alaska-for-high-end-joint-exercise-northern-edge-2019). I haven't been able to find a definite location for where the actual carrier was, so I'm basically just picking a spot that looks nice.

This scenario will be based on the Truman_demo.xml that is included with the default FG installation (with the escorts and such).

Work that still needs to be done:
Creating or modifying carrier and escort ship textures (changing numbers and names, etc).
Finding a better location than the one I currently am using for testing
Ensuring the ships have enough room to move around without hitting each other or the land or something
    Correcting escorts (see below)
Also need to either find a new way to path the "turn to launch/base course" option so the ship doesn't smack into the land

As far as the carrier itself, all I should have to do (unless something else pops up) is to edit the textures and make it independent of the Truman files and such. As for the escorts, I need to retexture some of them (I think) and get the proper destroyers for the Roosevelt's strike group. However, this strike group also included a replenishment oiler of the Kaiser class (specifically the lead ship of the class). This model and associated textures do not exist in FlightGear, and I honestly have no idea how to make them myself. If anyone has and would like to contribute a model with associated textures and stuff, I would appreciate it.
