Simbrief to Flight gear flight plan converter

Postby TKE587 » Tue Jun 23, 2020 12:42 am

Hello I developped an on line resource allowing to convert a XML DATA FILE from simbrief into a loadable flight plan file in the route management module.
Took me about 3 hours to develop.

usage:
. on simbrief plan and generate OFP
. download the XML DATA FILE in the download section under the OFP
. upload that into the converter
. the converter will generate an automatic download of the converted file
. go into FG route management module from the 'auto pilot' top menu
. fill up departure and arrival airport
. clik on LOAD button to load the converted file
. click on activate.. the full simbrief route should appear in the PFD

Hope this could be the start of more opensource improvements for the flight gear developer community.

the resource is here: https://sbtofg-converter--tke587.repl.co/

Thanks
I tested it some more early this morning, on a short haul (egll lfpg) and a long haul (egll ksfo). It all seems to work properly.

You wasted Your time :)
From OFP screen You can open generated flightplan in skyvector.com and here use Export - download Dynon GPX. This file is perfectly compatible with FG route manager...

I like skyvector, for FG is better than all other tools.

Hi

Works great. It would be great if you would ever think of sharing this with simbrief so maybe we could download directly from their site? Not that I don't love your website :-) just would make life easier :D

Hi

I've been using your converter from Simbrief to Flightgear for the last few weeks and it's been working perfectly (thank you!!!!). Just gone to the site to upload a new OFP and and have been taken to EZFN website....? WTF? What's happened? I've done the link via SkyVector, which is great but you have to manually add the FL.... didn't have to do that before...

Please help!!

Hi everyone,

is there a possibility to upload a FP (from SIMBRIEF) to the A320 MCDU, since the Route Manager is not accessible?

Which one of them? There are at least four different A320 available: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Airbus_A320_(disambiguation).

Hi,

THe A320 family in the official hangar...unless you mean the different A320s in the family don't have the same MCDU ? Sorry if my questions seem stupid :-(

I finally succeeded in loading a FP from Simbrief, thanks to the SBtoFG tool, and using "Load Flightplan" on the menu; but the problem is : no magenta path on the map.

Image

Previously I had entered the FP manually on the MCDU, and the magenta path was present, although the plane did not seem to follow the line

It's a FP between LOWW and EKCH

Thanks for your precious advice.

Thanks V12, i had actually found your video before, that's how i succeeded in loadind my FP, but what worries me is the absence of flight path on the map (CTRL M). And if you enter the FP manually on the MCDU, the magenta path is present but the plane doesn't seem to follow it.

Strange. Check :

I manualy entered F-PLN, Bus correctly followed route. I will make next test - create route in SimBrief and download that F-PLN into MCDU via INIT-REQ. Will report.

EDIT :
I tested this scenario :
- created FP in SimBrief from LOWI rwy 26 SID RTT3X to LZIB STAR KOXE1R ILS31 approach to rw 31 (https://skyvector.com/?ll=47.8264329874 ... XER%20LZIB)
- spawned at LOWI rwy 26
- INIT-REQ, checked F-PLN
- take off, AP ON
- AP nicely followed complicated departure SID displayed on ND
- deleted some waypoints between WI007 and RTT, the plane followed route (on ND)
- inserted LOWS waypoint into MCDU, the plane followed route (on ND)
- used DIR to KOXER, the plane followed route (on ND)

I can commit that on the map the flightplan has only departure and destination connected with line without any waypoints, on ND You can see SID procedure waypoints :

IMHO this is not any problem, IRL You have not that map with designated route.
