... be a bit easier and faster?

Just retrieved the 4.2 version and compiled it. All went well.
The I got the 1600MB fgdata4.2.tar.bz2 and compared it the fgdata4.1.tar.bz2 content.
The amount of changed files adds up to roughly 2MB which is about 0.125%.

Anyway, thanks for the great software!

You're most welcome to checkout the GIT repository and pull the updates after each release (which gives you the diff). The number of users who can otherwise handle an update but do not cope with GIT is probably not that large.
