Property to know about shadows

Hello

While trying to implement the shadow of an aircraft I stumbled across the following property:
/sim/rendering/shadows-ac

Couldn't find anything useful about the meaning ...

Are there any other useful options to find out:
- if the sun is currently shining enough to create shadows
- direction to the sun ... so the shadow can be placed better

The only other useful property I found until now is: /sim/time/sun-angle-rad

... or am I off track, because there are much better ways now to have aircraft shadows ?
