- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?

IRC help?

Postby KinneticSlammer » Tue Nov 30, 2021 1:52 pm

There was no dedicated IRC help channel, so I went here. When I try to connect to the IRC server, the following shows up:
Code: Select all
07:47 !de.irc.flightgear.org *** Looking up your hostname...
07:47 !de.irc.flightgear.org *** Skipping host resolution (disabled by server administrator)
07:47 -!- Irssi: warning Connection reset by peer
07:47 -!- Irssi: Connection lost to de.irc.flightgear.org
07:48 -!- Irssi: Removed reconnection to server irc.flightgear.org port 6667
07:48 -!- Irssi: Looking up irc.flightgear.org
07:48 -!- Irssi: Reconnecting to irc.flightgear.org [217.78.131.42] port 6667 - use /RMRECONNS to abort
07:48 -!- Irssi: Connection to irc.flightgear.org established
07:48 !de.irc.flightgear.org *** Looking up your hostname...
07:48 !de.irc.flightgear.org *** Skipping host resolution (disabled by server administrator)
07:48 -!- Irssi: warning Connection reset by peer
07:48 -!- Irssi: Connection lost to irc.flightgear.org

I have no idea why. I'm running Irssi v1.2.2-1ubuntu1.1 on the newest stable release of Linux Mint. Is the IRC server just not up anymore? Has anyone had any success with connecting to the IRC servers recently?

Thanks in advance,

The server i up and running. However, you're not the only one lately who has problems connecting. At least non-encrypted connection is possible on my end. Which command line options did you use?

Ok, my bad. Let's phrase it that way: what options and settings did you use when configuring the server/network? E.g. if you have SASL enabled use port 6659.

Here this works:
Code: Select all
irssi -c de.irc.flightgear.org -p 6667 -n flughund
16:50 -!- Irssi: Looking up de.irc.flightgear.org
16:50 -!- Irssi: The following settings were initialized
16:50                        real_name
16:50 -!- Irssi: Connecting to de.irc.flightgear.org [217.78.131.42] port 6667
16:50 -!- Irssi: Connection to de.irc.flightgear.org established
16:50 !de.irc.flightgear.org *** Looking up your hostname...
16:50 !de.irc.flightgear.org *** Skipping host resolution (disabled by server administrator)
16:50 -!- Capabilities supported: tls
16:50 !de.irc.flightgear.org Welcome to FlightGear!

I sincerely apologize if I'm just being an idiot and missing something here, but I have not configured it *at all*.
EDIT: I tried your command, and it didn't work. Also it may be noteworthy that I am at work right now and they may be blocking anything with an IRC extension in the address. I will try at home in ~an hour and a half.
