Help with pop out FG1000 PFD/MFD

Postby Robertfm » Sat Sep 18, 2021 5:13 pm

I have been trying to set up flight plans in the pop out versions of FG1000 and have also tried it on DA40 (nothing happens in that plan). Whether I either use direct button or FPL the cursor flashes and I can use the FMS to scroll say the 'E' for EGLL (Heathrow) I then press shift as it says in WIKI to move to next digit but nothing happens. I have tried using shift scroll (both directions) but nothing I do works. I have even tried :msegll but that doesn't work, with or without a space after 's'.

Is there a fault, or is there another way.

I was under the impression that portion of the fg1000 isn't programmed yet.

This is what it says in wiki: 'Multi Function Display (MFD). Fully functional and 90% complete vs. the real thing. Includes moving map, navigation features, flightplan, traffic, engine information. '.

That may be just for the map portion. Have you tried entering the route in one of the other flight planner options to get it into FG and then see if the map picks it up. I think it is the entry portion of the route planner in the MFD that is not programmed yet.

This was a conversation I had with Stuart awhile back...

One more thing maybe someone can answer for me, I’ve never used the RouteManger or any Flight Planning systems. I was wanting to test that portion of the FG1000 and noticed the vertical NAV is not finished, but it looks like the horizontal Flight
Plan portion might be? If so how do you either enter a route or load a preexisting route into it? No tutorial I watched matched one to one with the available choices or actions of ours (I couldn’t figure out how to enter data into it). Is that working yet, if so I will try harder to figure it out. If not I really don’t want to be wasting my time, ha.

I've not implemented the vertical navigation displays on the FG1000. My recommendation would be to enter a route plan using the main FG GUI. I don't recall whether I implemented creating route plans within the FG1000 or not - using the interface is so finicky without the haptic feedback from the physical controls.

To answer your question the flight plan shows up if it's loaded in Route Manager. As for the difficulty of loading on the MFD/PFD there are lots of sim videos where with is done with the mouse. What I don't understand is why/how it's possible to enter the first digit. The wiki also gives 3 options as to how to do this. Why would they be included if it's never going to work.

I don't know, I guess you'll have to ask Stuart on the mailing list.
