- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?
- where did you download your aircraft/scenery from?
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)?
- copy&paste your commandline (tick the "Show commandline box on the last page of FGRun or the "Others" section on the Mac launcher).

Please report any bugs not specific to an aircraft on the issue tracker.
To run FlightGear on old computers with bad OpenGL support, please take a look at this wiki article.

Crash on FG 2020.4.0

Postby Delta5142 » Sun Aug 29, 2021 1:40 am

Hello,
First of all, I'd like to make it clear that I'm just using 2020.4.0 to test out photoscenery, and I know the devs discourage users from using the nightlies. Anyway, I'm facing a problem on it though, whenever I click "fly" the game crashes on me. It does this with any aircraft at any location, and I don't have anything in the add-ons section. This problem hasn't been happening to me on the LTS release, 2020.3.11. I'm on Mac.

Thanks in advance,
Delta

even with the UFO?
what does the log file say?
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

even with the UFO?

That's the weird part, It doesn't show the default aircraft in the "installed aircraft" section either, i.e. the Cessna 172, UFO, and the FG video assistant. So I checked if they are in the "Browse" section waiting to be installed, but they aren't. Strange. When I downloaded the nightly last a couple of months back, I didn't have this problem and the sim didn't crash on fly.

what does the log file say?

Sorry for being dumb, but where can I find the log file?

Thanks,
Delta5142

i wish i could help more but other than some basic program specific stuff, i'm completely out of my element when it comes to mac systems... the last one i was able to really dig into was an original macintosh back in the '80s...

maybe the top 75-100 lines as well as the last 50 or so, i guess... you can use a site like pastebin or similar and post the link to the paste here... that's the preferred method rather than posting X messages with the log in code tags (which so many leave off)...

i've just bumped the thread...

i'll also ask if you have tried a newer nightly? https://download.flightgear.org/builds/nightly/

Today I downloaded the latest nightly on the nightly page. I still have the same problem.

Thank you,

be sure you have turned on "Enable crash & error reporting" in the launcher's Settings tab... it is in the General section under the auto-coordination switch...
