Flightgear keeps crashing

Postby wooly » Mon May 17, 2021 2:49 pm

Version 2020.3.6
Windows 10
Comp. Asus vivobook 17

Hi, i have been having problems with fg lately. 5 attempts to land at Nantes (LFRS) 4 failed and 1 successful flying the Piper Warrior. 4 attempts to fly from Nantes to Southampton (EGHI) 3 with the Piper and 1 with the Cessna 172 all failed because fg crashed near approaching runway, about 30 miles out.
Do i need to re-install fg or am i missing something, i have never had this problem before. If i do have to re-install will i lose all my settings, i.e. flight times?
I did try to install fg 2020.3.8 but got a message saying this would harm my device?????
Thanks for any help

firstly, FG won't harm your system...

as for the reason of FG crashing, we need more information... this information might be found in the log file that FG creates for each session... you can find the log file in one of the locations specified here: https://wiki.flightgear.org/Commonly_used_debugging_tools#fgfs.log
you can post the log to a site like pastebin, google drive, dropbox, or similar... then provide a link to it here...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
