Forum rules
In order to help you, we need to know a lot of information. Make sure to include answers to at least the following questions in your initial post.

- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?
- where did you download your aircraft/scenery from?
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)?
- copy&paste your commandline (tick the "Show commandline box on the last page of FGRun or the "Others" section on the Mac launcher).

Please report any bugs not specific to an aircraft on the issue tracker.
To run FlightGear on old computers with bad OpenGL support, please take a look at this wiki article.

Note: If you did not get a reponse, even after 7 days, you may want to check out the FlightGear mailing lists to ask your question there.

Take off problems

Postby molina.noel » Thu Mar 25, 2021 7:18 pm

I recently downloaded Flight Gear Professional Simulator. I tried using the tutorial flight simulator and I am having a couple of problems. The tutorial assistance guides me and tells me each step to do. I follow each step. When it comes to do the take off that is where I am having problems. The exact part where I cannot take off is when the tutorial tells me to take off the parking brake and then to put the throttle at 50%. The tutorial says once I release the brake and put the throttle where it needs to be then the plane will begin to move. After I follow the steps the plane does not go anywhere. (and I want to fly!)

assuming you are speaking of the default craft, the c172p, this is a defect in the craft's code... use the in-sim F10 menu and click on the c1722p submenu... in there you will find options you can select for the craft... toggle the damage one on/off and then try releasing the brakes again...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
