Citation II / Super II startup problem following update.

Postby MouseMaster » Wed May 27, 2020 6:12 pm

Hi.
I'm running FlightGear 2018.3.5 under Solus Linux. This is the latest version included with the O/S v4.1 (Kernel 5.3) It's been great until now.

I went to start with Super II and didn't notice there was an aircraft update, when I hit fly fgfs terminated with error message saying the plane couldn't be found. I restarted and went into aircraft and updated. Naming convention and details on the aircraft were different, assuming as part of the new version.

Now I do a pre-check, everything seems fine. Auto-start... engines spool up to 20% then spool down again. Ah-ha! I know this problem. Check the throttles, they're in cut off. Weird. Okay, manual start... same problem. Everything's pressed that should be, can't work it out. Reset the aircraft, retry, no good.

Check the O/S's update centre, new version of Flightgear rolling out (2018.3.5) so I upgrade, reboot. Still cannot get the thing to start.

Any ideas please anyone. It's doing my fruit.
Cheers.

No worries, mate. Woodstokk is just doing wonderful things on this aircraft and maybe something has happened in this process. Pretty sure he will look into this.

Interim solution: You can use the state "ready for takeoff", so you don't miss tonight's flying.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon.

Agreed, the aircraft is an utter beauty. It took me a while to get the hang of it but now I'm totally hooked. Birmingham to Samedan on a day like today, too hard to have to pass up. I did suspect it might be an interim roll-out that wasn't quite fixed. I'll wait and see what comes down the pipe.

How do I set 'ready for takeoff'?

Ahhh, I just noticed that after upgrading fgfs I lost the default hangar. Just re-applied that and whaddya know, there's another Citation II in the list now, same naming convention as the old one, and it starts!

Thanks for the help.

Glad to hear, that this nice little plane has its friends. Useful to operate from smaller fields and a nice variation from glass cockpits.
Enjoy!

Maybe this is a old version for FG 2018 or older.
I have pushed the updates only to the latest version (trunk).
You can see your version in the property-browser under '/sim/aircraft-version'.
Latest version is now 4.4.1

Yes it's an old version, no bleed air and the ILS doesn't work. I'll check the latest asap.
I did notice some changes with the new version, it's coming along beautifully.

Thanks for getting back to me, and for the work you're doing. I really love this sim, been at it for over three years now and it never gets old.
Cheers.

Just came back to comment on the new update. Absolutely superb job. New textures look the business, it flies beautifully, and now with opening windows, how cool! I was so eager to test it out I forgot to fuel up first. Glides well too!
