Warning no DNS entry found..
Forum rules
In order to help you, we need to know a lot of information. Make sure to include answers to at least the following questions in your initial post.
- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?
- where did you download your aircraft/scenery from?
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)?
- copy&paste your commandline (tick the "Show commandline box on the last page of FGRun or the "Others" section on the Mac launcher).
Please report any bugs not specific to an aircraft on the issue tracker.
To run FlightGear on old computers with bad OpenGL support, please take a look at this wiki article.

Although the above property settings got FlightGear working fine, I did a little digging and noticed some weird happenings with DNS resoloution.
Long story short, my Ubuntu 17.4 machine needed me to reset/reconfigure resolvconf by:
(say yes to "prepare /etc/resolve.conf for dynamic updates?")
Then restarting systemd by:
Seems recent changes to systemd have borked a few DNS settings.
Hope this helps someone.

this just shows that your DNS server can and is pulling the proper DNS information for terrasync.flightgear.org... your FG should be taking those five NAPTR entries and choosing one of them to pull the scenery data files from... can you run a traceroute to each of those sites, please?
let's see if you can resolve and reach each of them... you do this from the command line again... do one and paste the results... shouldn't be more than maybe 20 lines or so each...

Strange! What if you run with each server individually, using the following options one-by-one:
Do the first 4 work, and the last one fail?

That is bizarre. Have you tried to ping these? What do you see if you run the following in a terminal:

i used traceroute instead of ping because traceroute is more informative...
i'm starting to wonder if there's some filtering and blocking being done upstream... if this is a corporate network, permission might be needed to access these external resources... at least "--prop:/sim/terrasync/http-server=http://flightgear.sourceforge.net" should work unless we're maybe running into a redirection to https problem... specifying a server in this property will prevent the automatic scenery server decision code from working... if that property contains "automatic" then the autoselection code will run... since autoselection is not working, forcing one server should work unless there's an external block preventing access...
we're not trying to do something weird like forcing everything through TOR or down a VPN pipe are we??

It does smell like a firewall blockage.

I had the problem 'Warning no DNS entry found' running FlightGear v2017.1.1 from command line as administrator in Windows10
I could fix the problem by running the launcher (again as adminstrator) with additional settings:
--prop:/sim/terrasync/http-server=http://flightgear.sourceforge.net/scenery
Is this the best solution?
I noted the list polled by dig
terrasync.flightgear.org. 599 IN NAPTR 100 100 "U" "ws20" "!^.*$!http://flightgear.sourceforge.net/scenery!" .
terrasync.flightgear.org. 599 IN NAPTR 100 50 "U" "ws20" "!^.*$!http://mpserver16.flightgear.org/scenery!" .
terrasync.flightgear.org. 599 IN NAPTR 100 50 "U" "ws20" "!^.*$!http://dream.t3r.de/fgscenery!" .
terrasync.flightgear.org. 599 IN NAPTR 100 50 "U" "ws20" "!^.*$!http://fgfs.goneabitbursar.com/terrascenery!" .
terrasync.flightgear.org. 599 IN NAPTR 100 50 "U" "ws20" "!^.*$!http://ns334561.ip-5-196-65.eu/terrasync!" .
Can I use any of these if sourceforge is not available?
