Forum rules
In order to help you, we need to know a lot of information. Make sure to include answers to at least the following questions in your initial post.

- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?
- where did you download your aircraft/scenery from?
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)?
- copy&paste your commandline (tick the "Show commandline box on the last page of FGRun or the "Others" section on the Mac launcher).

Please report any bugs not specific to an aircraft on the issue tracker.
To run FlightGear on old computers with bad OpenGL support, please take a look at this wiki article.

Note: If you did not get a reponse, even after 7 days, you may want to check out the FlightGear mailing lists to ask your question there.

How to's - Newbie questions

Hi All,
very nice product, congrats! I'm enjoying it a lot so far.

Working on getting my settings right and fly my first patterns in the C172P.

iMac MacOS 10.12.5
2,7GHz i5
12GB DD3
Radeon 6770M 512MB

a few Qs:

How can I remove ground equipment? (it is not in any checklist and it looks not clickable.. I've already lost a landing gear hitting the ladder :))
How can I prevent the screensaver to kick in? (nice especially on short final)
How can I add shadows and more scenery? (I would like more reference points)
How can I move around with Walker? (cannot move in any direction)
How can calibrate joystick sensitivity? ( Speedlink black widow xe)
How can I download the latest C172P FDM? (I understand there is a very realistic model available)
How can I save my flight status when I exit?

Thank you and thanks for your patience

The ground equipment is set in a menu under "Cessna 172p".
The walker is binded to WASD, and you already have the more realistic C172p
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

How can I prevent the screensaver to kick in? (nice especially on short final)

Turn it off using the Mac Systems options that deal with the screensaver.

How can I add shadows and more scenery? (I would like more reference points)

There is a airplane shadow option in the menu. There is also a tree shadow option in the ALS menu under Rendering. As far as objects in the scenery, you can add all the visual references, as in models of buildings and objects in the real world, by submitting them to the Scenery Models Database. See "Scenery" in the upper menu line in the header above on this forum. That would be Scenery then Contribute

How can I save my flight status when I exit?

Saving your current position is feasible with some coding, but is currently not available. There is a soft plan to implement that ability, however I don't know when that might happen.
There is a Hobbs meter for flight time and also a menu setting in the c172p that allows you to save you current switch configuration, but not your current position.

How can calibrate joystick sensitivity? ( Speedlink black widow xe)

I have no experience with this. Hopefully someone that uses a joystick can help shed some light on it.
Kansas and Ohio/Midwest scenery development.
