Unless you install scenery where you fly, you have water. The last version sure doesn't contain KSFO scenery, so probably that is the issue.

Either have terrasync box checked to download scenery automatically, download and install scenery from here: http://ns334561.ip-5-196-65.eu/~fgscene ... 2.0.1.html into a folder of your choice (in a sub folder in documents) and point Flightgear to this folder on the settings screen. Or do what I do and download terramaster from here:https://github.com/Portree-Kid/terramaster download the tiles you require into a folder of your choice again, then point flightgear to this folder in the settings tab, and all should work well!! I actually have the whole world downloaded from terramaster and it only uses around 84Gb of disk space, Terramaster also downloads all terrain, objects & bulidings, and updates them as and when needed. Hope this helps?

Glad to try and help...but cosider terramaster, and it saves all the hassle, and loads quicker than "on the fly" as you have it in a file so it's instant!

File > Scenery Download > Enable automatic download/update

That worked for me, atleast.
