Wingman Controls dialog; purpose of 'Reset' button?

Postby captainjack » Thu Dec 08, 2016 9:34 am

Hello,
I have played around with the 'Reset' button in the 'Wingman Controls' dialog, and I cannot see how it changes anything at all.
What is the purpose of the 'Reset' button?
I am using FG version 2016.4.1 'Zurich' on a Win7 computer.

are you using AI wingmen? it sounds to me like that button would rest the settings to the defaults if you have changed them for the AI wingmen... but you have to be using AI and enabling the wingmen to fly along with your craft, IIUC...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

hi wkitty42,
I thought the same thing about defaults and the 'reset' button when I first started playing with wingmen, so no matter what I did (formate, break or join), I was always clicking on the reset button to see what would happen.
After lots of clicks in many different circumstances, nothing happened at all.
I'm not using AI traffic at all, that box is not checked. Wingmen are separate from AI traffic, to use a wingman you only need to create a scenario (or use an existing scenario, such as one of the b29 scenarios that comes with the FG installation).
As soon as I activate a scenario, the wingman appears like magic! that part works just fine, it is very cool, and lots of fun.
Once he is there, I can click on 'break' , he will break.
Then if I click on 'join', he will join again.
If I get tired of waiting for him to rejoin, I click on 'formate' and he rejoins immediately.
But the 'reset' button doesn't appear to have any effect on any of this at all.
Same thing for the 'Apply' button.
