Forum rules
In order to help you, we need to know a lot of information. Make sure to include answers to at least the following questions in your initial post.

- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?
- where did you download your aircraft/scenery from?
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)?
- copy&paste your commandline (tick the "Show commandline box on the last page of FGRun or the "Others" section on the Mac launcher).

Please report any bugs not specific to an aircraft on the issue tracker.
To run FlightGear on old computers with bad OpenGL support, please take a look at this wiki article.

Note: If you did not get a reponse, even after 7 days, you may want to check out the FlightGear mailing lists to ask your question there.

Quite regularly fg crashes and the log ends with the following 2 messages

Code: Select all
opengl:4:..\..\..\flightgear\src\Viewer\fg_os_osgviewer.cxx:193:Warning: deleting still referenced object 000000025A2FA960 of type 'class osg::Referenced * __ptr64'

opengl:4:..\..\..\flightgear\src\Viewer\fg_os_osgviewer.cxx:193:         the final reference count was 1, memory corruption possible.

This has been going on since 3.2 and now in 3.4.0. Is there some C garbage collection problem?

I am on win 8.1, i7 8 threads, 12gb mem, gtx670mx. Using ALS and detailed weather, and thread model CullThreadPerCameraDrawThreadPerContext.

Kind regards, Vincent

almost certainly, this is not a "GC" issue (RAII-based smart pointers don't really do garbage collection ...), but simply a race condition due to a number of bugs in FG, in an otherwise unmaintained component- for details, refer to the wiki - i.e. the yellow box at:

Please feel free to file a corresponding bug report

Thanks Hooray,

I'll fly CullDrawThreadPerContext for a while. See what happens.

Kind regards, Vincent

Well after a period CullDrawThreadPerContext with the same problem, i am now on the simplest DrawThreadPerContext for a while. The problem keeps occurring. Less, but still. I do not want to go to single threaded with my 8 cpu threads, do i?

Kind regards, Vincent
