In order to help you, we need to know a lot of information. Make sure to include answers to at least the following questions in your initial post.

- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?
- where did you download your aircraft/scenery from?
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)?
- copy&paste your commandline (tick the "Show commandline box on the last page of FGRun or the "Others" section on the Mac launcher).

Please report any bugs not specific to an aircraft on the issue tracker.
To run FlightGear on old computers with bad OpenGL support, please take a look at this wiki article.

Note: If you did not get a reponse, even after 7 days, you may want to check out the FlightGear mailing lists to ask your question there.

It is crashing at "Initializing SubSystems"

Which plane do you use? Does it happen with all the planes?

Can you be more specific about how/where/when you are getting a crash. I don't see a crash here, so if we are talking about an issue that is not universally seen, then you need to help us out a lot more.

Thanks,

Curt.

Really sorry curt. :(

Apparently these are the steps to reproduce the problem-

1.Take any plane.

2.Choose any airport.

3.RUN!

Output-
Flightgear starts loading normally, goes through Loading Navigation Data, and the like but suddenely freezes after reaching Initializing Subsystems.
Flightgear then freezes and after a few seconds the following message comes up-

FGFS.EXE HAS STOPPED WORKING.
WINDOWS IS NOW CHECKING FOR A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM

System- Windows 7

I don't know whether this would work, but the fact that FlightGear crashes while initializing subsystems could indicate that you have a corrupted cache directory. Being a linux user myself, I'm unsure where the cache is located on windows systems. The traffic manager writes information into the cache, and if the write is corrupted, you might get into trouble later on. Does your problem still exist when running flightgear with the traffic manager disabled? If so, I would recommend deleting the cache. i hope that a windows user might be able to tell you where this is located on windows.

Hop this helps,

Cheers,
Durk

The cache is a folder on your computer where flightgear writes some results to, so that the next time you start flightgear it's performance improves. If something goes wrong during the write process (for example because of an unexpected program crash), the next time you start flightgear, it may chrash again, because it tries to read data that is incomplete.

Being linux user myself, I don't know where this cache folder is located on windows, so I hope that a windows user can help you here. But as a hint, you could search your computer of files names ????-cache.txt or ????-groundnet-cache.txt, where ???? should be substituted with a four-letter airport code (e.g. EHAM-groundnet-cache.txt, or EHAM-cache.txt). Try deleting all of those.

If that doesn't help than *please* copy and paste your command line and the *complete* output of the console as per the instructions in the pink box above. It may seem trivial, but with the exact information we might be able to reproduce your problem, or ask additional questions the may ultimately solve it. Without that we're very limited in our abilities to diagnose the problem, however.

Hope this helps,
Durk

Edit: some fix some grammar / spelling issues.

On Windows it'll likely be C:/Users/../AppData/Roaming/flightgear.org/ai. You can find the exact path on the first page of FGRun (previous to Aircraft Selection).

ON THE FIRST PAGE OF FGRUN C:/Users/../AppData/Roaming/flightgear.org/ai. ONLY IS WRITTEN.

NO OTHER DIRECTORY IS WRITTEN.

NOTE - To be honest I am getting a bit angry now, still suppose have to wait ONLY for 105 more days for v2.6.0. :D

Your first page looks like this. At the bottom you see this "Airport Cache" line. That gives you the cahce directory (that path, minus /fgrun/airports.txt gives you the root of FlightGear's cache).

If on Win7, I've located it using 7zip File Manager, Google it.
