Need help with the 737YV

Postby MRacing » Sun Mar 15, 2020 3:18 am

So, Since the new flightgear update, the Boeing 737YV has been messed up. The flightdeck screens are off, even when I auto start the aircraft. I can click on them and they show up in the window, but they don't do anything. The autopilot is also off in the flightdeck so I cant use it there. And in the autopilot menu, the autopilot wont do anything either. Literally nothing works. The only thing I can do is hand-fly the aircraft without instruments. PLEASE HELP!

"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

if you got the craft from github, that's where you need to seek help on it ;)

Very strange. Please check Nasal console for errors.
I have FGaddon version of this aircraft downloaded via launcher and work reasonable good.

Yeah, this definitely sounds like a Nasal crash. Uncaught exceptions in Nasal code will generally just terminate that Nasal execution thread, which means they can take down just a part of the aircraft's scripted system, or the entire Nasal engine, depending on where they occur. The log file should show those exceptions though.

I will check the nasal for any possible issues. But would upgrading to fg 2019.1.2 make a difference? A similar issue is happening to the github version of the IDG a32x. In the FGaddon it says it needs fg 2019.1.2. Could there be a similar issue here?

Yes, that is possible.

A lot of FG's internal functionality is exposed to Nasal, so differences between FG versions could lead to Nasal incompatibilities that cause crashes.

Some Nasal code also comes from fgdata, which is updated in lockstep with FG itself, and aircraft Nasal code written against a newer version of that could also cause crashes when run against older stuff.

And finally, it's possible that there is a bug somewhere in FG itself that has been fixed since.

Ok thats good. How do I update from 2019.1.1 to 2019.1.2?
