I like Atlas Airlines. It has a good ring to it, plus it's unique.

...but it seems too old....
Stay modern! This is 2010, not 1960.
Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

Whoa hold on. There's already an airline named Atlas Air. I want to change my vote to FlightGear International Airlines.

Yeah!

Can we disqualify Atlas Air?

I am trying to play by MD-Terp's rules about the new VA name. They do NOT have anything against usage of names that exist in real life. If usage of an already used name meant disqualification, I'm afraid I'd have to remove Skynet Int'l and CAS as well as Atlas Airlines, now that'd make a right mess of the poll wouldn't it?.

In the mean time, the voting shall continue.

Although a thought crossed my mind. Shall we have a go at setting up some rules 'ere? - I could have the poll restarted.

Also, what's wrong with "Atlas Airlines" already existing?

Oh well, vote on!

Look, I think there's no doubt it has to be FlightGear Airways, or FlightGear Airlines. Abbreviated as FGA.

I can not think of one negative reason for that name, while I cannot say the same for all the others in the poll. It's an 'Airline' based on the 'FlightGear' flight sim. Simple as that.

One reason for not using FlightGear Airways/Airlines, is that it brings the simulator into the virtual environment, so you lose the "suspension of disbelief" that we're surely aiming for. It's a bit like when you are in a cinema and suddenly notice the screen, after being immersed in the experience.

A name is just a name, but while we're trying to mimic a real airline in a virtual environment, I think it makes sense to use a name that could exist within that virtual world.

Well.. I have a few suggestions which are non FG related (i.e. realistic).

- Aerolink
- Euroair
- Gofly.com
- Nordair
- flyWings
- xPress Airlines
- Britair
- Fly*cityname* (was thinking of the existing flydubai, something like flyparis or flyrome or whatever)
- Eurair
- Aviata (A slight twist on the word.. aviator :D)

I googled them to check if they existed, as an airline.- they seem to all be free.

Heres an interesting resource, virtual airline (I googled skyfly to see if it was an existing name, and it came up with a virtual one!):

Well, since there's no virtual airline named closed to Atlas Airlines, I'll keep my vote for Atlas Airlines.

Well, seems a bit pointless to try and name an airline that doesn't exist, not even on paper...and who decided on these 5 names anyway. From what I can see this 'new va' is following the same path as all the others, and is quite likely doomed to the same fate.

cheers
