Well, making it able to fly at around mach .7ish, or making a jet version of it it would be possible.

if you're talking realism, a jet version with long range only carrying little passengers wouldn't make the profit to ensure the running costs are secure

Well, if I charge 20,000 dollars a seat, and if hydrogen fuel is cheap.

I've brought a new aircraft into the game. The MD-11X. I 'shut down' the aircraft a while ago, but never stopped working on it. Now, after one of my friends urged me to release it, I did. It's got a very high thrust-to-weight ratio, encouraging the pilots to throttle back on the engines, saving tons of fuel. It has the power (If you need it) but then also the fuel economy.

high thrust to weight? so it has engines on it so massive you have to throttle it back? what about take off power

Takeoff power should be only half of the engine's maximum thrust. A little more on windy days. The reason I made it this way is so that the plane:

1) Reacts well on Go-Arounds.
2) Can operate on small runways. (High thrust means high thrust-reverser!)
3) Engine failure. This plane can fly, even take off with only one engine!
4) Fuel efficiency. The power is there, it just isn't used. That makes it use a lot less fuel!

1) sounds great
2) more thrust=more thrust reverse => reverser slider door may fall off ( no more reverse thrust  )
3) fair call, most aircraft can fly on a single engine these days ( for a short period )
4) power is there? just half throttle? if it cruises at the same speed with that engine on half thrust, does that make it equivalent to the normal thrust of a normal engine?

Im having you on dont worry

Ppht. I sure hope I don't have to fly on one of those. What happens with engine failure? :P

:) Anyways, I suggest virtual airlines purchase this wondrous aircraft (Not the Boeing 888, the MD-11X!) and test the response, and fuel economy and power. -_-

"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
