Anyone willing to help with A320Family cockpit 3D modelling?

Postby Octal450 » Mon May 15, 2017 6:15 pm

I couldn't model a cockpit to save my life.

Is anyone willing to make the following changes:

Remove this A330 thing: http://prntscr.com/f863ax

Improve it in any areas else you might think of

Then:

I need 2 versions:

EIS2: https://www.flickr.com/photos/133097889@N02/19140814059

The biggest difference it the rounded/squared displays

If you can help, it would be really really wonderful for our project!

Kind Regards,
Josh

That flightdeck needs a complete rework, not just cosmetic changes. My advise is to stick to making the aircraft systems complete and it's flight realistic and then go to the 3D. I might be at a stage to help with that by then especially that I have the measurements for the A320 flightdeck.

The CaptB's comment makes sense, but told me if you need more 3D modelling help.

That is what we are doing. I wanted to start simple, but I plan for a complete 3D rework after V1.0.

We work hard on Systems, MCDU, FMGC, etc at the moment.

If someone could make these small changes for now, it would be nice.

EDIT: D-ECHO removed that silly A330 thing

Josh

Instead of having two complete flight decks, maybe it would make more sense to model the part below the glareshield and change that dynamically as needed?

Good idea. I'd leave that up to the modeller, I'm useless with thus stuff. ;)

I hold my opinion that it's a waste of resources at this time, but let us look at some facts, if you compare the model's displays to both versions of the A320 cockpit, you will find they represent neither. It would take some considerable remodeling to get it anywhere close to the look of the real world counterpart. It's better to redo the whole thing. This emphesises my approach to modeling. Half baked 3D models don't work long term, they are usually incoherent, not thought through and thus difficult to amend later so usually have to be completely redone.

When your A320 model is brought to a stage where basic systems work flawlessly (sans MCDU) and it's possible to do a cold & dark start by the book along with a basic flight, I will help with it, not only the cockpit but also the external model which also needs some love. I can't promise I will be as precise as with my B767 though, since I seriously don't have the time to commit to two projects at such a level at this time.

@CaptB
OK, Sounds lovely! I'll let you know when it's at that level. (at LEAST 8 monthes)

I'll hold off on these changes then.

I'm more of a systems guy, so it would be great to have a proper 3D artist on board!
