Docs for Simoun C.620/630/635

Postby didier1963 » Sat Sep 19, 2015 1:31 am

Hi there,

Does anyone have documentation on the Caudron Simoun C.635 or 635M?

I'm working on it but did not find much on the NET.

There are some instruments/equipment that I did not understood what they are for or how they are working.

So far I'm at the following stage,

Inside :

Outside :

Thanks a lot

Looks really good. I love the instruments - they look like the real thing. The outside could be enchanced by mettallic effects as seen on the IAR80 or Amelia Earhart Lockheed Model 10, both on FGMEMBERS downloadable as zip. Sorry I do not know where to fin dthese elsewhere if you are not comfortable using fgmembers either zip or git.

Hi legoboyvdlp,

The textures are the temporary ones.
I did not work yet on the different effects like dust, rusted & other.
I began to work on this plane only early july & I'm beginner developer.
I'm still learning on Xml programming FG related.

The instrument looks real because they are photo realist.
The texture are made from pictures that was taken from the original plane in "Musée de l'Air & de l'Espace" (MAE) in Le Bourget.
I just reworked the backgrounds & made cosmetic changes in the instrument frame.
Then, I made the 3D based on pictures available on the NET, & on Badin type 70 panel documentation found as well in the NET, where I found few measurements.

I just wanted to finish the 3D, then I'll try to make my own JASim FDM, based on Buckaroo's tutorials.
Then, I will go back on liveries. I would like to fond the real colors, because I think the one used in F-ANRO & F-ANXM are not the real ones.

That's one of the reason I ask for documentation.

Regards

Wow, looks amazing didier1963.

The maker of the BN-2 Islander (Paul Richter) tried also to make a Caudron Simoun C.635: https://freeshell.de//~riktov/FlightGear/aircraft/
Maybe it's usefull for you.

Martien,

thanks for the link.
I like his work because he got the 3D shape of this plane in only few lines and points.

I think he proceeded like me : getting info from the NET.
But as I said before, they are not much technical infos.

I collected about 90 pictures taken between 1935 and the 50'
about 10 drawings (witch can be not exactly close to the reality)
45 picture from the one in MAE close to Paris
50 from the one under re-building process in Pontoise
about 5 different 3 vue plan (including some for RC building)
& few PDF about engine, some instruments, etc...

So I was able to do the 3D quite easily, only with little patience.

But now that I want to animate all these equipment, I miss technical data’s that I can simulate with Xml files & some Nasal (as soon as I began to learn it).

A copy of the flight manual would be the graale, someone who have one of the following book could help as well by scanning the needed pages :
- "Notice descriptive et d'utilisation de l'avion Caudron-635" from the French Air Force
- "Fana de l'aviation" magazine N°296, July 1994
- "Les avions Caudron, tome II", André Huet
- "Caudron Renault Simoun C.635" Document'air N°5
- "Les ailes de gloire N°5, Caudron C.620 C.635

As my budget is quite small to not say close to zero, I cannot afford to buy one of these (witch are anyway hard to find), and cannot go to Paris or Pontoise as I live 500 Km from there.
I try to send some e-mail to the two location, but no answer so far.

So .................. patience, patience.............

Hy every body,

little "UP" for any news?

Since my first message, I got in touch with the communication guy fron the "Association pour la restauration du Simoun".
He made me few pictures so I was able to complete my engine and make few corrections on the plane.

So, any luck on the mentioned books?

Thanks.................
