Default ki206 instrument

Postby AlanWingnut » Fri Apr 30, 2021 2:00 pm

The default ki206 face turns black when not in direct light (or illuminated) in FG 2018.3.1. Also the card remains fixed.
I had a look at the ac file and found some anomalies.
Replacing the material section with this does the trick:

AC3Db
MATERIAL "mat0" rgb 1 1 1 amb 1 1 1 emis 0 0 0 spec 0.5 0.5 0.5 shi 64 trans 0
MATERIAL "mat1" rgb 0.9 0.9 0.9 amb 0 0 0 emis 0 0 0 spec 0.5 0.5 0.5 shi 32 trans 0
MATERIAL "mat2" rgb 0.2 0.2 0.2 amb 0 0 0 emis 0 0 0 spec 0.9 0.9 0.9 shi 32 trans 0
etc.

And in the xml file: Get the card move to match heading:

<animation>
<type>rotate</type>
<object-name>KI206card</object-name>
<property>instrumentation/heading-indicator/indicated-heading-deg</property>
<axis>
<x>1</x>
<y>0</y>
<z>0</z>
</axis>
</animation>

We have more than 500 aircraft. Which aircraft has this problem?
And which FG version you are using? Some aircraft use the default instruments shipped with FG but many use there own instruments.
So we need more info to fix it upstream, otherwise we can pick in the dark for years.

It is part of the standard installation on FG 2018.3.1 and FG 2020.3.1
Found in Aircraft/Instruments-3D/ki206

Okay, thanks, i have forwarded it to the dev list.
But i dont understand what you mean with the material, because the onlx thing that you changed is the material name and the name doesnt matter at all.

Yes I know. I'm a long way from understanding any of this. I think it is the rgb and ambient numbers which seem to cause the problem.

Pushed a fix for the property path issue to FGData/next. Need a bit more help to understand the lighting/material piece.

On the ki206, the card showing degrees is set with the knob. The degrees have nothing to do with the heading of the aircraft, it is the inbound/outbound radial to/from the VOR that you want selected.
I have tried many ways to get that card working, including copy pasting the kx165 and ki206 from other aircraft. The card rotates with the knob on the Quickie, Dimona, but not on the Grob.
On the Grob I have to use the VOR instead of the ki206. The VOR works fine.
When flying the ki206, and using the "/", you can see that turning knob selects the correct radial, but the card never turns.
