Livery database

Postby Gijs » Sun Feb 07, 2010 9:22 am

Hi,

I have been working on a new livery system for over the last weeks as you might know. Well, today the correct domain is made available (thanks Curt!), so here it is:

http://liveries.flightgear.org/

As you can see I still have to add/upload a lot of liveries (and their thumbnails). This will take a couple of more days. If you've made any liveries in the past, please check whether they are in and under the correct author name. Some of the liveries are created by "unknown", which means that I was unable to track the author down, or the author released his work under a nick name. I prefer to use real names (whether that is just your surname or not). Please drop me a message if you do not want your real name to be publised, or if anything else is wrong.

Of course new liveries can be sent in.

Enjoy!
Gijs

Let's see if we can enable multiple authors-per-livery ;)
Do you know the original author's name?

There is more 737-400's here, which dont appear to be on there (apart from Helios, done by me btw)
http://flightgearliveries.ning.com/page/boeing-737
Anything on these pages are by me. (except the 767-300 page, that is WIP)

Gijs, I will send you all of the 767-300's at once, if that is ok. I don't want to change them again, which is why I am fixing the originals by other people and myself, before adding them to my site also, so il send them to you at the same time if that is ok (or the livery page). Il also add a text document labelling all of the authors, which alot of them say unknown on your page now. I still have lots more to take from the forum such as air china, American, etc.

Il also change the ICAO's because some people have forgotten to do so.

Cheers!

Nice job Gijs, this is much easier to use.

If you want to use any of my screen shots for thumbnails please do (see sig), or if you want me to do some more for you I can.
Do you want thumbnails with the new uploads, if so what size :?:

Are you uploading the old version 737-300 liveries or is worth waiting until we have updated liveries for the new version.

That's just what I needed to hear ;)

Thumbnails are displayed in the 160*120 resolution. I am not sure if we will resize them later on (or allow for larger previews when clicked)... What do you think?

I will copy the -300 liveries from the old livery repository, so you can send "old" liveries in as well. As long as there is no "new" version of the same livery I will keep the old version in (might be usefull, as some can convert them?).

Cheers,
Gijs

That sounds OK, or maybe just larger thumbnails, somewhere between 250 and 350 seems to work, you can see the livery without the file being too big, and no extra clicks.

When you decide on a format we can add the correct size thumbnails to our uploads, that should make less work for you

350*250 (w*h) sounds fine for me. Any objections to that?

That's OK with me.
How do you want them named, Aircraft-ICAO-tmb i.e. an Aer Lingus Boeing 707 would be 707-EIN-tmb.jpg.

I will do some thumbnails for my liveries over the next few days.

Please number them. If you visit a livery specific page, you'll see its ID in the url (eg http://liveries.goflyflightgear.com/liveries.php?id=8 has a thumbnail with the name 8.jpg). Please zoom in as much as possible, but do respect the aspect ratio ;)

Thanks!

Hi!
I just received an answer from the Sahsa author...
he said that he wanted his name to appear as: JonySniuk (Jonathan Fiszer) if you can... if not then just use his name...
btw...are you going to add my liveries to the site?
