Helios Airlines went bankrupt in 2005, After losing one of its small Fleet of 3 737's to a tragic air disaster.

Helios Flight 522 Disaster:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1-ZGXq4biI <-- I very much reccomend this video :)

One of the most mysterious flight accidents in aviation history, One of the 3 Helios 737's was en route from Cyprus to Prague via Athens when it failed to communicate with ATC for more than 2 hours, which was much longer than its origional flightplan. The aircraft circled over Athens and the Greek air force flew alongside it to try to establish communications with them and to their astonishment- there was no sign of life whatsoever including in the cockpit where the pilots appeared to be asleep as they did not even turn their head to the military aircrafts flying closely- Likewise in the cabin of the 737. Amazingly, they noticed a male figure walk into the cockpit in steward clothing and he did not seem too bothered by the military being so close, and did not make an attempt to contact through radio. One military pilot put his hand up clearly at the steward, but he did not respond for a while untill he did it back. The plane then ran out of fuel and slowly decended into a mountain killing everyone on board.

The reason for the incident was not a terror incident, it was infact, an accident in which groundcrew were checking the aircrafts air pressure a while before and had to keep the air conditioning and oxygen on manual to do so, they then left it on manual before Flight 522 took off from Athens and the pilots never noticed untill warning lights went off, which they had no clue had anything to do with the oxygen. As it rose to a higher altitude, the oxygen masks fell in the cabin, but are only designed to keep people breathing untill the aircraft decends to a breathing altitude, in which, they did not feel necesary as pressure never dropped suddenly. All on board eventually fainted due to lack of oxygen apart from 1 steward who was surviving off other oxygen supplies throughout the plane as he made his way to the cockpit, when he eventually followed suit before it crashed.

A fake image showing what the pilots of the Greek air force saw as the aircraft began to decend to its fatal end.

The flight was due to arrive at athens for a stopover, before continueing for Prague Ruzyne airport but it circled athens before running out of fuel.

The crash site on the side of a mountain near Athens. The crash shocked many from the Island of Cyprus as communities are so socially orientated, as well as all who worked for the small airline as most pilots and air hosts were familiar with one another and knew people aboard the aircraft.
