Discussion of aircraft textures and liveries

Livery Licensing Issue/copyright infringement

Postby JacobC » Mon Jun 26, 2017 6:10 am

Hi, I was unable to choose a forum and subforum to post this issue although I believe that this should be brought to attention.

I am a flight sim enthusiast from the simulator GeoFS and it has come to my attention that a user by the name of Yotam Salmon has been abusing the right to use FlightGear liveries for that particular simulator instead. I have enclosed below a link of the list of liveries.

I am not sure whom to approach for this matter as this individual has been claiming all rights and efforts to those liveries and has also been creating extensions unofficially on GeoFS to use them. One which has been removed(from the Chrome Store) due to a virus.

Hello Jacob,
thank you for reporting this, but unfortunately there is nothing to do about this.
FGFS is open source, and that means anyone can copy anything from FGFS and use it himself, distribute it, and even sell it.
Believe it or not, there are FG-versions rebranded and sold for 60 € and more, although FG is open source and free.
So as ugly as this topic is, we can't do much about it.
