Can i suggest a Czech Airlines livery for the A320? Next default airport will be in Prague, so would be nice to have a local livery.

Guys we are getting to a point where there are too many liveries........... The size of the aircraft is growing alot.

Any suggestions with how to deal with it?

Kind Regards,
Josh

Do you really need all those liveries now?

I'm sorry to be the bad guy -- but you are aware the exteriors will be overhauled, which means ALL liveries will need to be redone? Can I stress this is PreV1.0 software? (Alpha)

Kind Regards,
Josh

Yes -- It is problematic for me. We are now at 416MB, If I remove all the liveries, it is around 150MB -- I DO NOT WANT an aircraft this size -- which is why I moved all the Frontier liveries into a livery pack. I will likely do the same -- but then anyone who clones/pulls with git has some problems.

I do not appreciate the attitude. We have an aircraft half a gigabyte. If we keep this up -- it will be 1GB! of just liveries!

Kind Regards,
Josh

Well. Remember it will need to be all redone when the 3D models get fixed.

We are looking at a way to download liveries and install them with an installer, but we can't keep these in the core aircraft

So of course, I am the "big bad guy" for being concerned about aircraft size?

Kind Regards,
Josh

Keeping the base package reasonably sized is important; for a number of reasons, some of which are related just to using git, local storage, and history.

I don't know if http://liveries.flightgear.org is still accepting stuff but that has always struck me as a better solution than bloating the base package; you used to be able to store the paintkit here also.

I would tend to think that around 5 liveries in the base package is sufficient to get started.

Maybe in the future some of the core/launcher, or Nasal could be changed to integrate the downloads of liveries directly into the aircraft - it's not that hard to do and could be done in Nasal with a bit of Canvas.

I am planning a full load manager software (based on Java, so he works Win/Lin/Mac) which will download liveries, set fuel/payload, etc.

That's one of the reasons I'm sticking with 'simple' liveries and saving all the xcf files. Also, as a rule, I think its better to perfect the model before getting everything else working as so you don't end up with a situation that we are heading to.

There maybe some issues getting that to work on linux since the Red Hat Package I made installs the add-on under the flightgear directory in /usr/share. Using red hat packages, its impossible to install in the local directory under /home/<<username>>.

f***

I'll figure it out.

@omega13a
None of us are 3D modellers. The people who offered to do the 3D work said they would do so after the systems are complete.

OK i understand, then i dont want to request more liveries or start mines until we get more exterior 3D work done later in the main development, despite excellent livery makers here, if actual size is huge perhaps you can move all liveries to another repo, like Cessna C172p.
