Seams

Postby Sascha » Mon Aug 11, 2014 10:01 pm

Hi!

I just tried to add some weldseams to my liveries. I´m not convinced... Do they look more realistic or just awkward?
What do you think?
I´d say: The engines definitively need seems. But what about the fuselage?

Hey that looks nice :D Did you create the lines in GIMP? in that case you should be able to control the fade of the lines in opacity in the "layers" section;
the lines can be visible enough to help give the fuselage some texture.

Good work!

I think that the fuselage should not have seams. Or if there are seams, it should be difficult to see unless you zoom in.

You could also do this in a normal map.

As far as I can see, the seams are not that noticeable.

"Subtle makes the difference" is an old but probably meaningful expression. I think the seams should be there on both the fuselage and the engine nacelles, though seams that is not on the edge on for example the parts of the engine cowling that can be opened should be subtle enough that one nearly have to know what one is looking for in order to see them.
