Upgrading Flightgear to newer version

Hi,
I'm running FG 2019.1.1 and quite happy with how it runs. I should really upgrade to the current version. Had a search-around the forums but couldn't find much on this.

- Does the current version need more pc power? (I've got Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3301 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) / 8gb RAM / NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 2gb mem / Win 10pro)
- Are my aircraft and scenery files retained (I don't use Terrasync as my broadband is very basic)
- How do you upgrade? Just upgrade over the top, or uninstall first?

i upgrade over the top but i'm not sure if you keep airplane folders
but you keep scenery thats not in the flightgear folder

Hi, i upgraded my FG version many times and I have always kept my airplanes folder; no need to uninstall

even the list of former airports where you have been flying from is kept

I upgraded many times and leaved aircraft and terrasync folders without significant troubles. I reinstalled only specific aircrafts.
