Split off from the topic Plane Taking Off Automatically.

Robertfm wrote in Wed May 15, 2019 4:20 pm:I actually most fly Piper 28A, I don't get on with the Cessna although I assume it will be the same. The Piper doesn't seem to have a trim wheel but I have a but set to trim on the Yoke.

Did you try the new one at:

https://github.com/Octal450/IDG-PA28
?

you can try the in-development branch too if you want:

Yes, please try mine one, it has been calibrated liftoff forces from the real plane.

Hi Josh I have tried the second download link. It downloads fine, it extracts to my airplane folder on my Flashdrive. It shows in addons list but says there is nothing there. What am I doing wrong. I don't really understand what to do with Github, which actual file do I download. Previously I download from FG Hanger and planes showed up in addons. Help, please.

Remove -master from the folder name, should be a INSTALL.txt file for further help in the IDG-PA28 folder.

https://github.com/Octal450/IDG-PA28/archive/3d.zip is the correct file to download.

remove -3d if you downloaded the 3d branch via lego's link, the foldername must be "IDG-PA28" for it to work

That is strange. Corrupted download? There should be many files and folders in there.
Note that if you are using software such as WinRAR there might be a duplicate IDG-PA28 inside the IDG-PA28 after extracting which contains the airplane. If so move the inner folder outside.

Remember that you have to tell the launcher where to find downloaded planes from git. I have a folder on my desktop called Aircraft, so I pointed the launcher to C:\Users\Octal\Desktop\Aircraft

Perhaps you could send me the exact URL that takes me to your download without any encumbrances. I will clear my download folder of all items and reformat my flash drive. So everything will be clear.

Forgot to mention I use the flash drive because I download and extract on one computer and my FG set up is on another computer. I have download the unzipped file to my desktop each time and then saved it to the flash drive. It should be a simple matter of using the flash drive in the other computer to add-on. As I say the file shows up but no plane.

Hi,
We have: https://github.com/Octal450/IDG-PA28/archive/master.zip

If all the files are on your other machine, then you need to point the launcher at it as I've said above. As a last ditch resort, you can dump the IDG-PA28 folder into C:\Program Files\FlightGear 2018.3.2\data\Aircraft... but that isn't the "proper" way, but it will work.

Kind Regards,
Josh

WellI've loaded directly onto gaming machine and this is the error message: No aircraft found in the folder C:/Users/fealm/OneDrive/Desktop/IDG-PA28-master-add anyway.' The odd thing is it will install a picture but there is no Install button for th plane. What I did notice in the open extracted file there is no INSTALL.exe just INSTALL.md. As for your last suggestion, I have no idea how to dump a file, sorry.

The "Install" button is for downloading new planes, not installing them. Generally, if you see the picture, the plane is installed.
  • Add "C:/Users/fealm/OneDrive/Desktop/" to the aircraft directory list. (This might not work properly, but it's worth a try.)
  • Rename the "IDG-PA28-master" folder to "IDG-PA28".
  • INSTALL.md contains installation instructions.
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

I have renamed the folder several times but it still opens -master when I get to the add on page. Frankly I think I will give up. When I try to locate directory as per FG download instructions it doesn't exist. I loaded FG from an approved disk perhaps that has something to do with it. I don't want to load from the web as I will lose the planes that came on the disk, and without knowing how to reload I would be stuck.

You can add "additional aircraft folders" on the add-ons tab - put the IDG-PA28 in a folder (e.g. custom aircraft) and load that folder which it is in as an additional aircraft folder.
